About Us

Compass Professional Development was founded in 2009 by Pete Nyland & John Ainsley.

Both John & Pete have experience as commercial contract managers, business process managers, as well as team leadership in both public and private sector organisations. They are both registered practitioners with the Society for Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and are Authorised Assessors for the Managerial Assessment of Proficiency (MAP) tool (see Assessment page).

In recent years both have worked as Training Managers for a global IT organisation and have specialised in defining, developing, delivering and evaluating training programmes covering Individual, Team & Leadership/Manager development.  

John has worked with Gateshead College as an Associate Lecturer delivering elements of Foundation Degree in Business Management and Chartered Management Institute Level 5 courses. He is an Affiliate of the Institute for Learning and holds the C&G 7303 qualification in teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector.

 

Pete is qualified to administer the psychometric Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Instrument which he has used for many years to promote individual, team and leadership growth.

 

In 2002 Pete was a finalist in the Institute of IT Training Awards in both the “Internal Training Project of the Year” & “Training Manager of the Year” categories.
